INTERNATIONAL VICTORY BIBLE INSTITUTE
Graduation in Port-au-Prince, Haiti 2008

In May 2008, Jerry made a trip to Port-au-Prince to speak at the 11th annual I.V.B.I. graduation, and to take in much needed items for Marlaine's orphanage. He met with our dear friend, Daniel Vallon who is our friend, interpreter, and bodyguard. Daniel has faithfully worked with us for the past 11 years. Daniel was raised in an orphanage that was run by American missionaries so he has a good grasp of our language and is able to relay our messages to the nationals.

Pastor Jerry Schmidt and Senator Antoine Samson (the only Christian politician in the country) were the guest speakers for the 11th year I.V.B.I. Graduation.  They were very excited to meet each other and both knew it was a divine appointment. They each shared their visions for evangelizing Haiti, and reaching the youth of the country.  The Senator invited Jerry to Cap-Haitian to work with him and his staff on several projects.  He would like several bible schools and youth programs to start in the northern regions of Haiti and would like for Jerry to be the one to head them up.
They are communicating by e-mail to make a plan for the fall of 2008.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC NOW HAS FIVE I.V.B.I.

THAT JERRY HELPED ESTABLISH

Pastor Roberto (with his wife) was the
director of the Barahona, I.V.B.I. in 2001.

Pastor Roberto moved from Barahona, (our first school) to San Juan to pastor a new church and to help Jerry start the I.V.B.I. in San Juan.

Pastor Ramone Oganda, one of our former interpreters, became the new director of the Barahona, I.V.B.I.  We have graduated over 300 students from the Barahona, school. Pastor Ramone has also established two extension schools under the Barahona school.

Pastor Elvira Delos Santos (with Jerry) is the Director of the I.V.B.I. in San Juan.

Pastor Elvira is a very busy woman.  She oversees the I.V.B.I., pastors her church, is also a nurse, and has a medical outreach to the poor in the worst areas of the city. God bless her!

VICTORY BIBLE INSTITUTE GRADUATES
DO GREAT THINGS WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED THE MOST!

Jerry's trip to the Dominican Republic in 2005 had a multiple purpose.  He met with the Pastor's Associations in La Ramona and San Tiago. He also met with the directors of our I.V.B.I. in Barahona, and San Juan. He then went on to met with Pastor Santiago Ponciano in Santo Domingo to make plans for a new I.V.B.I. to start in January 2007. Pastor Ponciano's church has over 700 members and his facility will hold up to 400 students.

The trip he made in the fall of 2006 was to attend the graduations and to meet with the Alumni to get a report on what they were doing since they had graduated as well as encourage them to do outreaches and crusades.

Graduations are very exciting for the students as well as for the teachers.

Gunter & Aleene Cornmueller have been to many of the Dominican I.V.B.I. to teach as well as to do small crusades and conferences.  Here they are the guest speakers for the graduation in Barahona.

We love and appreciate them for all they have done for us and for the Lord.

Some of the 70 students from San Juan I.V.B.I.

Many of the students have started feeding programs for orphanages and many others are anxious to go out to evangelize and start new churches.

Jerry had the opportunity to preach in Pastor Garcia's church in Las Matas.  He encourages the congregation to make a difference in their country. Pastor Roberto was interpreting for him.

Pastor Homero Mendez (shown with his new wife),  is one of our  I.V.B.I. graduates in the Dominican Republic who started a church several years ago and now has over 250 members.

He also has 13 cell pastors with over 300 people who attend his cell groups.

He has been one of our interpreters in the Barahona, Dominican Republic I.V.B.I since 2001.

We thank him for his faithfulness!

Jerry met with some of the Pastors of the Association in La Romona to make plans for the two I.V.B.I. to start in January.

They recruited a new director from their 500 pastor members.

VICTORY BIBLE INSTITUTE GRADUATION IN HAITI 2006

Jerry with Pastor Firmin Louis (on right in picture above), Director 1999-2006, Brother Gibbs (on left in above picture), is a teacher and new Director for 2006, standing behind Jerry are the I.V.B.I. graduates of 2006.  The students are pictured below during Praise and Worship. They are eager to do mini crusades and to go out and Evangelize their country.

Jerry was the speaker at the 10th graduation of the I.V.B.I. in Port-au-Prince.  He also met with several of the graduates who are doing outreaches and who want to help teach in the new I.V.B.I. starting in Haiti.

Jerry will return again to Haiti and to the Dominican Republic this summer of 2008 to attend the graduations and to teach the students and graduates how to do outreaches and crusades.

We wish to thank all of you who pray for us and support us in every way that you do. Without you partnering with us, none of these things would be accomplished.

Jerry and Pastor Roberto traveled all over the D.R. for two weeks meeting with many of the church leaders and making many plans for the upcoming school year.  Schools, crusades, and conferences are part of the itinerary. Much fruit has come from this country.

While Jerry and Pastor Roberto were traveling around the Dominican Republic they were stopped and searched near Santo Domingo.  After being questioned, Jerry asked them if they would allow him a picture.

Homeland security (J2) stopped their car and  held Jerry and Pastor Roberto at gunpoint. The guards were trained here in the U.S. Pastor Roberto freaked out. ☺ Jerry always has a sense of humor.

THE VILLAGE VISION PROJECTS

Jerry is now working with an Evangelist Minister who does the "Village Vision" outreach projects supplying these sound systems for pastors in different countries. We teach them to hold mini crusades and win their country to the Lord.  This system will reach about 3,000 people using both speakers. They are averaging about 100 salvations per month doing the mini crusades. We hope to be able to supply all the present schools under our care with a complete system. Each system retails for around $1,500.00.

Jerry took a sound system with him to Haiti to leave with Pastor Daniel for his church and for the teens to evangelize with. If you would like to donate a system to a designated school, we would appreciate it.

All donations are tax deductible. Please make your checks out to Schmidt International Ministries and write in the memo where you would like the system to go.
